The Planet Christmas Lights Up Symposium (PLUS) will take place beginning July 29th in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Attendees and Instructors from most of the 50 states, as well as several foreign countries, will converge on the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center for the event. Those in attendance will spend three full days learning new techniques, sharing ideas, and viewing the newest products from top Christmas vendors. Besides attending classes and demonstrations, the attendees will be treated to a Hawaiian Luau, enjoy a special keynote address by a surprise guest, receive door prizes and accept special awards.
PLUS is a biannual event first held in 2003 in Nashville. It was organized as a way for the world’s most extreme lighting fanatics to meet anshare ideas. These lighting extremists spend all year long preparing for their displays and the PLUS provides them with a concentrated tool to prepare to “wow” the crowds. The lighting enthusiasts also talk regularly and share ideas in the Planet Christmas Chat Room (http://cr.planetchristmas.com), a service available to anyone who enjoys discussing Christmas displays.
Many of the world’s largest and most famous residential Christmas displays will be presented at the symposium. Several of these displays have gained notoriety with National News coverage, Network Holiday Specials, and Nationwide Contests. A few of the most famous displays represented include: PlanetChristmas (Chuck Smith) in Franklin, Tennessee; Christmas Wonders (Ron Lister) in Kissimmee, Florida; Christmas Wonderland (Les Murray) in New Castle Tyne, England; Christmas Utah (Marty Slack) in Salt Lake City, Utah; Golden Palace (Brad Finkle) in Omaha Nebraska.
